Jawaharlal Nehru On Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar in 1956.

In English: "Dr. Ambedkar, as every Member of this House knows, played a very important part in the making of the Constitution of India. He is often spoken of as one of the architects of our Constitution. There is no doubt that no one took greater care and trouble over Constitution making than Dr. Ambedkar. He will be remembered also for the great interest he took and the trouble he took over the question of Hindu Law reform. I am happy that he saw that reform in a very large measure carried out, perhaps not in the form of that monumental tome that he had himself drafted, but in separate bits. But, I imagine that the way he will be remembered most will be as a symbol of the revolt against all the oppressive features of Hindu society."

In Tamil: "டாக்டர் அம்பேத்கர், இந்திய அரசியலமைப்பை உருவாக்குவதில் மிக முக்கிய பங்கு வகித்தார் என்பதை இந்த அவையின் ஒவ்வொரு உறுப்பினரும் அறிவர். நமது அரசியலமைப்பின் சிற்பிகளில் ஒருவர் என்று அவர் அடிக்கடி பேசப்படுகிறார். டாக்டர் அம்பேத்கரைப் போன்று அரசியலமைப்பு உருவாக்குவது சம்பந்தமாக வேறு யாரும் இவ்வளவு அக்கறை எடுத்துக் கொள்ளவில்லை என்பதில் சந்தேகமில்லை. இந்து சட்ட சீர்திருத்தம் பற்றிய பிரச்சினையிலும்  அவர் எடுத்துக் கொண்ட மிகுந்த அக்கறை மற்றும் சிரமம் சம்பந்தமாகவும் அவர் நினைவுகூரப்படுவார். அந்தச் சீர்திருத்தத்தை பெருமளவு நிறைவேற்றப்பட்தை அவர் கண்டார் என்பது குறித்து நான் மகிழ்ச்சியடைகிறேன். ஆனால் ஒருவேளை, அவரே வரைந்த, என்றும் நினைவில் வைக்கத்தக்க அளவில் இல்லாமல் இருக்கலாம். ஆனால் தனித்தனி துண்டு துக்காணிகளாக அது நிறைவேற்றப்பட்டது. ஆனால் அவர் மிகவும் நினைவுகூரப்படுவது இந்து சமுதாயத்தின் அனைத்து அடக்குமுறையான அம்சங்களுக்கு எதிரான கிளர்ச்சியின் சின்னமாக  அவர் நினைவுபடுத்தப்படுவார் என்று நான் ஊகிக்கிறேன்."
