The Leader who behind Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar's Second Mass Reversion [not a conversion] ceremony to Buddhism after Nagpur was Dewaji Khobragade. He organised and presided over this historic programme. It was held at Chandrapur in Vidarbha region, Maharashtra on 16th October 1956. Some 3 lakhs of people were re-entered to Buddhism.
Dewaji Khobragade:
In 1937 Central Provinces elections, Dewaji Khobragade won from Chandrapur-Brahmapuri constituency as Independent Labour Party candidate. He was one of seven candidates of Independent Labour Party elected to Central Provinces. His son Bhaurao Khobragade was the third Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha ( also the first Non-Congress leader ). When the Republican Party of India founded in October 1957, Bhaurao was one of the leaders who behind Thanthai Sivaraj [First President of RPI].
